Global Citizenship - Uganda

Last session a collection of S6 pupils set up the Global Citizenship Group. The aim of this group is to create a link and friendship with a school in another country with a view to learn about another culture, education system and develop a greater understanding of world issues. We formed a link with St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School in Uganda.
Through much hard work including: bag packing, bake sales, race nights and climbing Ben Nevis the group raised a very impressive £5000. This allowed two pupils and a teacher to visit Uganda this July. It was an amazing experience to see the many similarities and differences in our ways of life. Our fundraising also means that we are looking forward to a visit from a teacher and two pupils from Uganda on the 6th September 2010.
